I invite all of you recent, past, present and future brides to pitch in and share your most memorable wedding experiences and tales. I will share with you some of the most hilarious weddings I've attended, my role in the weddings and point out some does' and don'ts. The most important do is to involve God in your life the reverse is true.
I will also include some venues and useful links that can be very helpful while planning your ideal wedding. Remember this! The bride should always have a passive role in the arrangements; because half the time she is day dreaming and not moving to shake things around. It's safe to count out the groom in the preparation!
I don't believe there is an exact science for determining the perfect wedding season, however, spring always seems to be a favorite for most. Perhaps the weather is perfect after a harsh winter or one can attribute this phenomenon to the magical beauty of the blossoming flowers!! Remember to check with your church and book early for reservations. Some churches do not perform these types of sacraments during lent (days preceding Easter)
The perfect wedding is hard to plan, but with meticulous planning and timing, one can come pretty close to achieving it. For those with lots of money, then a wedding planner can be your best bet, however most of us are not as fortunate hence we have to rely on our friends and family to help with the preparation.
I believe every family has a member who is infected with the wedding bug (lives for weddings) and has attended more than their fair share. While planning your wedding, this might be the person to refer to from time to time to see what they have to share from their experiences. Of course you could always revert to the internet to get others perspectives.
The second most important thing is to capture the magic of the moment. This can be achieved by either hiring a professional photographer and video man, or by talking to that family member or close friend who loves to shoot film and pictures. It is very important that you examine their work and probably try some photo shoots upfront. You only get one shot at this and you do not want to screw it up.
As we all know, the size and venue of the wedding depends on the available budget. Once you have decided on your budget, try to keep your expenses within your range. Setting your budget can be very challenging because one does not know where their limit lies. Two families are coming together to merge as one and both would love to make the event as memorable as possible. Before you place a cap on your budget, explore all avenues to raise as much capital as possible. You might be surprised by how much the in-laws are willing to contribute. You might want to consider holding a pre-wedding fundraiser prior to the wedding.
Once the budget has been set, the next priority is to shop for the wedding gear. The groom and his best man will probably need to be fitted with something special just as the bride and her bridesmaids. Again, there are several ideas and deals around that offer elegant bridal apparel that one should consider before making a final decision. Whatever you do or buy, make sure it is comfortable. This is your special day and the last thing you want to do is hide your misery behind a pretty dress or tight fitting shoes.
The venue for the wedding is the next thing to consider. Remember that the guests want to be treated as such and are dressed in their best, so they do not want to stay behind to cleanup after everyone else has long gone. They came to party and it's your job to see that they do; therefore, while deciding on the venue, consider a venue that will factor in the cleanup.
Weddings are feasts and should be approached as such! Those on a diet will forego this day so indulge them by providing the bets catering you can afford. It's better to spend less on the cake than on the food and drinks. Feed your guests well. Now there is a story to tell.
